G and R Wrenn was formed in 1950 by two brothers, George and Richard Wrenn, later joined by third brother Cedric. The company initially produced 00 scale trackwork including flexible track, points and crossing, and later TT track. The company expanded, introducing the Formula 152 (scale 1:52) car racing set in 1960, and also launched model boats. Lines Brothers of Tri-ang purchased Hornby Dublo following the collapse of Meccano Limited, and, the following year, purchased Wrenn. Wrenn reintroduced the Hornby Dublo range, and also sold old stock of Dublo, produced by Meccano Limited. During 1968, Wrenn also sold old stock of the Triang TT range.
When the Lines Brothers empire collaped in 1971, Wrenn purchased itself from the Receivers, and continued trading as Wrenn. Wrenn introduced lines of N and 0 gauge models, both produced by Lima of Italy. Wrenn also introduced three entirely new models during the 1980s, Royal Scot, Spam Can and Brighton Belle. Wrenn ceased trading during 1992, the assets being purchased by Dapol who, in 2001, sold the Wrenn assets to New Wrenn, who continued trading until 2015.
