The Mohawk Toy Company was founded by Samuel Hoffman in 1919. Hoffman was the brother in law of Julius Chein and, following the death of Chein in 1926, Chein's widow appointed her brother Samuel Hoffman to run J Chein and Company. The Mohawk Toy Company was purchased by Nonpareil, December 1927.
