Early Motor Identification. The Manufacturing tag used on the pick up assembly in 1916-17 reads "The Lionel Manufacturing Co" as compared to "The Lionel Corporation" used on all later motors. The 1915 motors did not have an ID tag but the rivets that hold the pick up had a small "L" embossed on the head. All Manufacturing motors have a triangular brush plate as compared to the dogleg style on later motors. The 1925-27 Corporation motors used on the early electrics had a square style brush plate.
