The Lima company was founded in Italy, in 1946, and produced a basic model railway system in 1953, expanding over the years to production in N, H0, 00 and 0 scales for markets around the world. Lima went into liquidation in 2004, and was purchased by the British manufacturer Hornby, who reintroduced Lima models in 2006, albeit now produced in China.
Lima entered the ready to run 0 scale market in the early 1970s, and soon offered a range of boxed sets, locomotives, track, passenger coaches and freight wagons to suit British and various European systems. Locomotives were available either track or battery powered.
