Although currently located in Widnes, Hattons shop is perhaps best known at the Smithdown Road, Liverpool address. Established by Norman Hatton in 1946, the shop initially sold anything Norman Hatton could obtain, but soon began specialising in toys and trains. Following the demise of Meccano Limited, Hattons purchased huge quantities of new Hornby Dublo and, later, post war Hornby 0 gauge, which were advertised in Railway Modeller for many years afterwards. Hattons currently offer a range of ready to run commissioned models in both 0 and 00 scales, products being manufactured by Dapol, Bachmann, Heljan.
