J Chein and Company, of New York City, USA was established by Julius Chein in 1903. Toy production included a wide range of mechanical toys, litho tin toys such as spinning tops, money boxes (banks), fairground toys, road vehicles, floor trains, aeroplanes, boats etc. Chein absorbed plastics manufacturer Renwal mid 1960s, as tin toys began to be replaced by plastic, finally ceasing all toy production during 1979, by which time Chein was producing kitchen accessories and food containers.
