Pyro Plastics was established as an injection moulding plastics business by Mr and Mrs William M Lester in 1939, initially manufacturing components for military use during World War II. After the war, Pyro switched to toys, producing toy guns, space themed toys and, by the mid 1950s, kits to build a range of road vehicles, aircraft, figures and replica firearms. Pyro also produced ready made plastic toys, nominal scale 1/32, for the Dime Store market. Pyro was sold to Life-Like in 1972.
