A and E Tool and Gage Co was established by Alvin and Earl Herdklotz in 1943, as a precision tool and die defence contractor. Following the Second World War, manufacturing switched to toy production, using the name Midgetoy, aimed at the lower or cheaper end of the market with well made but basic toys. Road vehicles, military equipment, railroads and aircraft were issued, production ceasing when the company was sold circa 1982.
