Walker Fenn 0 Gauge

(UK)

Believed to have been established in 1929, Walker Fenn are famous for their clockwork mechanisms, which utilised a Marklin 0-6-0 chassis, which was fitted with a governor from a gramophone (record player). Just out of interest, others are known to have achieved similar results using the governor from a traditional telephone dial.

A patent for a governor for clockwork motors was granted to Walker, H. E., and Fenn, H. H. 16th May 1929, having been submitted 19th July 1928.

The following pictures were taken from eBay sales.

(i) 0-6-0 tank loco, in plain unlined black livery, with what appears to be a Marklin rear coupling.

(ii) 0-6-0 tank loco, unfinished and unpainted. The sheet of brass is provided to construct a cab roof. Interestingly, this loco has been purchased by a friend in the US, and I rather hope that he will provide photos of the finished item. Judging by his other work, which includes a twelve inch gauge live steam railroad, the results will be worth seeing.
