The German firm of Adolf Schuhmann was one of a number of smaller manufacturers in Nuremberg between the wars, making various tinplate toys including trains, and supplying others such as Moses Kohnstam (Moko). Schuhmann was forced to sell his business to Ottmar Beckh in the late 1930s, due to the political situation in Germany at that time.
