Fred Steward began 0 Gauge House in 1937 with wagon sand castings, but soon progressed to rolling stock and locomotives including NSW Class 36, NSW Class 57, Sydney 'Red Rattlers', NSW Class 38, NSW Class 30 and Class 40 diesel. A full range of passenger cars was also produced together with 4 and 8 wheeled goods (freight) stock. Fred Steward passed away in 1956, the business being run by his son Ray for a further two years.
