Meccano Hornby Speed Boats were launched with an advertisement in Meccano Magazine, June 1932. The first model was simply named Hornby, and was available in three colour combinations, cream decks with either a blue, green or red hull. All models were clockwork powered until after WWII, when battery powered models were issued, and by which time the models were plastic rather than tinplate.
