Markie are precision engineeers, established in 1946, and well known for their range of steam traction and similar live steam models. During the 1980s, Markie produced a replica of the live steam Bowman 234 tender loco, as illustrated below.
Not many replica Bowman locos were made, and they perhaps suffer from the solid wheels which are not as attractive as the original Bowman spoked wheels. However, the model has a good reputation for steaming, using a six wick meths burner below the traditional pot boiler, with drive to the rear wheels only, via two oscillating cylinders.
Markie also produced the 0-4-0 tank loco as illustrated, in the style of the Bowman 265, together with a US outline 4-4-0 tender loco (see below) and are believed to have produced a smaller tank loco (Bowman 300 style) and possibly at least one other loco, a 4-6-0 tender loco.
