Gützold (Guetzold)

(Zwickau, Germany)

The Gützold company began in 1946 when John Gützold began building wooden 0 gauge train models for his sons. By 1950 the company was producing H0 models and was nationalised 1972, becoming part of the VEB Piko empire. The company was privatised in 1990 and managed by Bernd Gützold, son of the founder. A buyer was sought in 2012, but, as no buyer was found, the company ceased trading in 2013, and was relaunched in 2014.
