GHK Metallwaren Galvanik Weimar 0 Gauge

(Weimar, GDR East Germany)

Metallwaren Galvanik seems to translate as Metalwork Electroplating. Weimar is a city in the former East Germany. Metallwaren Galvanik Weimar, known as GHK, was formed in the 1950s and in 1958 issued train sets such as that illustrated below, which is approximately S scale in size, but designed to run on standard 0 gauge track. The company was nationalised in 1960, becoming VEB (K) Metallspielwaren Weimar, usually known as MSW. VEB (K) refers to a state owned factory, and Metallspielwaren translates as Metal Toys.
