Two brothers, Edwin and Hermann Faller, launched their business in 1946, immediately following WWII, initially producing card and wooden toys and sawdust based scatter material and trees for modelling. By the early 1950s, the brothers were producing plastic kits and, in 1970, the Hit Train which comprised colourful battery powered 0 gauge trains with plastic track. Production continued for ten years. The larger Play Train series launched in 1977, comprising 0 gauge track with larger (narrow gauge) models, cleverly designed to be used with Playmobil figures and accessories. The third range was the Faller e-train, the locomotives having metal rimmed wheels running on conventional two rail 0 gauge track, using a 0-12v DC power pack.
