Circuit Specialists Europe is the British based European division of Circuit Specialists Inc, and offers a range of electronic products, the DC Bench Power Supplies being particularly popular with operaters of modern and vintage 0 scale railways. Most vintage AC powered locomotives are fitted with a 'universal' motor, which will run equally well using either AC or DC power. A caveat applies to post war Lionel locos fitted with horn or whistle, which is activated by an offset DC power supply. Running such locos using DC rather than AC power means that the horn or whistle is constantly powered and therefore operating whenever DC power is applied to the locomotive.
Reveral of modern DC powered locomotives requires reversal of the current, which may be achieved by swapping the power leads. However, many operators find fitting a double pole centre off switch between power supply and track to be more convenient.
